I was poking around Youtube for a super secret project that you can probably guess, when I found this video of a 17-year-old Robin Pecknold covering Radiohead’s “Let Down” with his friend Aaron Mannino. This is for sure Robin because the current Fleet Fox himself commented on the video. It’s great to get a look at the beginnings of one of the best bands out there, but also crazy to think that the next superstar is probably posting dozens of youtube videos of himself playing Fleet Foxes covers at this very moment!
Some kind/cruel fan has put the two tracks from Radiohead’s Record Store Day 7″ online for the world to stream. Kind of kills the anticipation for the even, but seeing as how this 7″ isn’t available in America, it really doesn’t take that much away. Why these didn’t make the cut for King of Limbs I’ll never know…
Thanks to WLFY for the stream. See you guys Saturday!
Radiohead: “the Butcher”
MF Doom certainly had some interesting things to say to 3D Magazine:
“I am doing some stuff with Thom Yorke. We’re working on some duets, some duet songs and shit. Just like preliminary shit but we’ll probably end up doing a whole record together. He’s cool – he got a lot of ill ass ideas and shit, you know.”
Promising, but it sounds like they’re a way off from knowing exactly what it is they’ll be doing. I — and every other blog on the internet — will do my best to keep you updated on it.
Burial, Four Tet + Thom Yorke: “Ego”
Here are two dream-come-true tracks for anyone who’s a fan of two or more of these three musicians. My personal fav is “Mirror,” but they’re both really good. Still no Bjork/Thom collaboration, though.

CONTEST OVER. I’ve already contacted the winner.
If you’re like me, you need something to tide yourself over until the new Radiohead vinyl set ships in May (or until you pick it up at your local indie record store in March). That’s where I can help. EMI gave me a copy of OK Computer, Kid A and The Bends to give away to one YANP reader.
I thought of making this a weird, funny contest, but in the end I decided simplicity is better. To enter, post about this on Twitter by hitting the “retweet” link at the bottom of the page, or leave a comment with your name and email address on this post. If you do both, you’re entered twice. Open to US residents only. I’ll pick a winner Sunday night and hopefully they’ll have it not too long after that!
“Talk Show Host” isn’t on any of the three LPs, but I’ll take any excuse to post this video.
If you preordered King of Limbs, hit up this link to enter your info and download the MP3s of the new record. I’m about ten seconds from finishing my download, so excuse me for keeping this short. There’s also a new video for “Lotus Flower,” wherein Thom Yorke shows off his great dance moves. But yeah, go download it now before their servers inevitably get clogged up.
Whoa! Last night the Arcade Fire take home Album of the Year and this morning Radiohead announce that they’re releasing their eighth album, King of Limbs this Saturday. You can preorder it now or just wait for Saturday.
Ordering options are below (hint: spring for the big box).
