The National heading up Cincinnati’s MusicNOW 2011

Guys, we are so lucky. A lot of areas comparably sized to the Ohio/Kentucky/Tennessee trio don’t get a lot of shows. Not only do we get most any band you’d want to see between the three of us, we also have a bunch of music festivals. There’s Forecastle, MusicNOW and, oh yeah, BONNAROO.

But this is about one festival specifically: MusicNOW. Curated by Bryce Dessner of The National, it’s quickly become a fantastic event. I’ve seen Grizzly Bear, Sufjan Stevens and Joanna Newsom put on fantastic performances there. This year looks to keep the trend alive — maybe even expand on it.

Friday May 13:
Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond)
Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire)

Saturday May 14
Owen Pallett
Tim Hecker
Little Scream

Sunday May 15 (Cincinnati Music Hall)
The National
Sharon Van Etten

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10am. Check MusicNOW’s site for more info. And according to ENS, more announcements will be coming soon…
