Cage the Elephant’s Thank You Happy Birthday is incredible. I wasn’t really a fan before its release, but now I’m happy to report that I’ve been won over by the boys from Bowling Green. On a few tracks, like the album-opening “Always Something,” they sound like they’re big fans of The Whigs and the charging rock that they embody; my favorite, though is when they get deep into the Pixies’ territory. There are two or three tracks on TYHB that I think would make Frank Black cry with envy.
