The Fiery Furnaces – I don’t know much about them. But I know that I like them.
I had the dumb luck to get to see these guys in a tiny concert in Lexington on Nov 1st. They were amazingly cool and we actually struck up a conversation after I heard their guitar player do a perfect “Ziggy Stardust.”
The Decemberists – These guys hold an important position in my heart. They’re the only band this year from which I’ve bought an album at a retail store. They mix indie rock and English sea-faring songwriting styles together and…well.. you’ll see.

Here I Dreamt I was an Architect
(note: sadly I couldn’t find any of my favorite songs of theirs available for download legally and therefore free of lawsuit.. but I’ll keep looking)
Bright Eyes – Recently Conor set a record of his own. His band Bright Eyes became the first to ever have spots 1 and 2 held at the same time by his singles “Lua” and “Take it Easy” from their albums “I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning” and “Digital Ash in a Digital Urn” respectively. On the off chance that you haven’t yet heard their “old” stuff. I suggest you check it out before buying the new.
BISHOP ALLEN – do yourself a favor and check out this band from Brooklyn, New York. Their debut album Charm School was one of the best albums of 2003. Their music has been featured in the Michael Stipe produced movie Saved! and possibly will be used in an upcomming ADIDAS commercial. As if that’s not enough, they’ve got a new album coming out this spring. Check out these goodies, you won’t regret it.
