Portugal. The Man have been teasing the release of “Evil Friends” for a while now. Last week I even thought it was their album title. But it turns out that its the first single from their upcoming record. Some fan uploaded the track to youtube today (apparently against the band’s wishes, since the description features an apology to lead songwriter John Gourley). The song starts slow and sparse before jumping into a choppy, frantic heartracer that’s led by a fuzzy bass line. The album comes out June 4. Here’s the official album cover
