Murder By Death @ Southgate House Revival 2.21.13

March 1st, 2013 by Matt

We arrived inside the Southgate House Revival just a few minutes before Murder By Death took the stage. It was my first time at the venue and my first time seeing MBD. The venue was a real beauty — better than the original Southgate House in most asthetic ways, but not quite all. It was located in an old church, with the giant organ providing a great backdrop to the bar. The sound was lacking, but they can always make improvements.

As for Murder By Death, that was another success. They weren’t quite as wild as I’d been lead to believe, but they had some great songs and were a joy to watch. They’re from Bloomington, which isn’t too far from northern Kentucky, so a lot of their songs were about things in the area (especially “Kentucky Bourbon” which was met with huge applause).
