I’ll be honest with you guys and say that my first reaction to this song was negative. The production on this is VASTLY different than what TBLLT have done on their two previous albums. Instead of their fairly minimal, twee approach, this has some backing instrumentation that seems pulled from a dreamy Mega Man level. But after remembering how poorly I initially took it when Belle & Sebastian stepped out of their established mold (and how much I love those albums now), I gave the song another go and found it much more pleasurable. Here’s hoping to many more listens and a fun record on the horizon!
