I had a hunch that Gary War was going to impress me and boy was I right. Maybe it was because I didn’t catch any similar acts at Boomslang, but they really hit the spot. Gary War’s show felt like kindred spirits with a lot of people added new flavors to the classic garage-rock recipe (Ty Segall), but without any of the confines or limits that are still usually found in that genre. It was weird, but it was welcome.
