If you aren’t American, don’t follow politics or happened to miss this little vignette of the 2012 campaign, let me give you some quick context for DEVO’s newest song. Several month ago, Mitt Romney told a story about putting his family’s dog on the roof rack of the car for a lengthy road trip. Animal lovers were generally appalled at this, but Mitt claims that his dog loved being up there. DEVO sees this differently, as Jerry Casale explains:

This isn’t a red-state thing or Devo stumping for Obama. But I think any animal lover that hears the story will learn so much about the character flaw of Romney. It’s just a deal-breaker about the man. My God, the world is a scary place with seven billion people. What you want in a leader is a guy with some humanity at his core.
