I can’t lie to you good people; what I really what in my heart of hearts is to see The Bronx live… not Mariachi El Bronx. I think they do a great job of doing a complete 180 into a spot-on mariachi performance, but I really only showed up at this show because I’m a Bronx fan. Maybe that makes me terrible. It probably does. But I just had to get that initial twinge of disappointment out of the way first.

OK, having said that I’m ready to tell you how great Mariachi El Bronx are at what they do. There’s no hint of irony or winking “we’re a punk band in disguise” to their show — it’s just a straight-forward good performance. If I had an even moderate interest in mariachi music I probably would have stuck around longer, but I had to be getting on with my day.
