[video] Queen: “Tie Your Mother Down” (live at Wembley)
November 22nd, 2011 by Matt
I’m going through a major Queen phase right now so I thought I’d only be polite of me to share. If you haven’t spent any time watching Queen’s live DVDs, there’s really very little else I could suggest to improve not only your day but your entire life. There are few classic bands that I [...]

[stream] Wooden Wand: “Winter in Kentucky”
November 22nd, 2011 by Matt
Wooden Wand moved to Kentucky about two years ago and I’d like to think that the community has embraced him pretty well. And while it’s not not exactly “I Heart KY,” he cared enough to pen this lovely track about his time here. His ragged southern storytelling ventures more into Drive-By Truckers territory here to [...]

[mp3] Of Montreal: “Wintered Debts”
November 21st, 2011 by Matt

November 21st, 2011 by Matt
Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Not only am I psyched to premier this new Yellow Ostrich song, I’m doubly excited just to hear it! This track sounds like Alex has focused more on the live show with a full band. It starts off as straight-ahead pop but then launches into a wild guitar solo [...]

> One of Helplessness Blues’ best songs (if not the best) gets a video that’s just about as beautiful as the song itself.

November 21st, 2011 by Matt
OK, let’s all get this out of our systems right now. Now that we’ve had ourselves a snicker, it’s time to enjoy some music. MP3: Bear Driver – Never Never “Never Never” feels like Bear Driver wrote a really powerful song, then reigned it in. Ordinarily you could interpret that as a complaint, but it [...]

November 20th, 2011 by Matt
That Radiohead existed in the mid-80s as “On a Friday” is common knowledge among Radiohead fans. What was not common until recently is possession of those early demos. Today we get two tracks from 1986 — before Johnny joined the band. On a Friday: “Everybody Knows” On a Friday: “Girl (In a Purple Dress)”
