About dinner time on Saturday I caught wind that Deer Tick would be doing a surprise show. Even better than that, they’d be doing one of their Nirvana covers sets — during which they are known as “Deervana.” It went down at 1:30 on the smallest stage at Bonnaroo and was a complete smash hit. Some of the guys from Phosphorescent jumped on stage to sing along (above photo) which was just incredible. Such a fun show to go down at 1:30am opposite Lil Wayne. At the end, the band crashed into their drum kit and banged guitars around — nothing serious enough to ruin anything, but it showed us their hearts were really in it.
