Florence and the Machine @ Bonnaroo 6.10.11
June 12th, 2011 by Matt

I think that Bonnaroo made a few minor mistakes this year with band placement. Florence and the Machine were probably too big to be playing a tent in the late afternoon, but I wasn’t going to complain. I got the chance to see a rising act from about 5 feet away.
Unfortunately I only knew a handful of Florence songs going into her set, but I was more than content to acquaint myself with her material as she played it. Florence has a cheerful mysticism that reminds me of post-Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nicks. She’s not quite “our generation’s Stevie Nicks” but that’s really just in her favor: she’s got too much personal flavor to be summed up that easily.
