Phosphorescent @ Bonnaroo 6.10.11

June 11th, 2011 by Matt

Years ago I booked Phosphorescent to play in Lexington, but their van broke down in Louisville on their way to the show. That would have been my first time seeing them. So it’s been a few years in the making, but now I can say it: Oh man Phosphorescent is great!

They opened with “It’s Hard to Be Humble…” and it sounded like the best Tom Petty song Tom Petty never wrote. Early afternoon performances are often too hot to be enjoyable, but I could easily have put on a wool coat and still been glad to be in front of those fine musicians.

And yes. The image of the keyboardist in the Dark Throne tshirt is in Phosphorescent. Craziest shirt/band combo since Owen Pallett’s Mayhem shirt.
