the Drums @ Bonnaroo 6.9.11
June 10th, 2011 by Matt

I’d listened to the Drums’ record, but it didn’t nearly prepare me for their live show. It was a far more… Anglophile than I expected. Really their show seemed like NME had gotten total control of a group. They were a sonic mix of the Strokes and the Arctic Monkeys, coupled with the aimless, limp swagger of a lot of English frontmen as of late. It was a great set to hear, but not the greatest to watch.

I may be in the minority by thinking the line “Really their show seemed like NME had gotten total control of a group” is a compliment. I’m a sucker for NME hype bands.

Saw them at Sasquatch just before Bonnaroo, blogged about it with some video here: http://virtualsoundnw.blogspot.com/2011/06/sunday-at-sasquatch.html
