Lewis Black & Eugene Mirman @ Bonnaroo 6.9.11

June 10th, 2011 by Matt

In the two years since I last stepped into the Bonnaroo comedy tent, it’s had quite the face-lift. It’s now a well lit, air conditioned spot that’s nearly as tranquil as it is hilarious. It’d be tough to think of two better comedians to break it in for me than Lewis Black and Eugene Mirman.

Lewis Black really seems to enjoy playing Bonnaroo. He suggested that after the festival was over, the Bonnaroo attendees should roam from town to town like hippie locusts — an idea that was met with cheers. And, as he pointed out, if we started to run things, we couldn’t do any worse than the people in charge. He ranted about the Tea Party for a bit, an idea which carried over to Eugene Mirman’s set as well.

Maybe the best part of Eugene’s set was his cards of potential Tea Party slogans he submitted to them. They ranged from: “How can I be racist? My favorite tea is black people!” to “If God didn’t want a revolution, then why did he give me all of this tea?”
