Memphis’ Beale Street Music Fest grabs MGMT, Flaming Lips, Wilco and more!

I hadn’t heard word one about the Beale Street Music Fest until my friend EJ mentioned it. Kinda weird considering this is one of the weirdest/best/weirdest lineups I’ve ever seen. It’s about one-third bands we can all agree are awesome (Flaming Lips, Wilco, New Pornographers, Cee Lo, Avett Bros), one-third bands I’d love to see but would never pay very much to do so (Ludacris, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.o.B., Bettye LaVette, Macy Gray) and one-third bands that you can either avoid (Godsmack, Saving Abel) or get drunk and satisfy your morbid curiosity (Ke$ha, Jason Mraz).

Beale Street is April 29-May 1. Sadly I’m 90% sure I’m invited to a wedding that weekend, so you guys will have to go without me. Full lineup after the break.
