[MP3] Brother: “Darling Buds of May”

I checked out the official video for Brother’s new song “Darling Buds of May” today and was struck by the comments. A ton of their fans said how much they preferred the demo version — a feeling a can completely relate with. It seems like any time a band I love releases a demo of a song, I get so attached to it that the studio version falls flat. Luckily this was my first time hearing the official version, so it sounded great to me. I did, however, track down the demo, rip it and upload it here for you to enjoy before you check out the video.

This reminds me so much of what I used to love in 2005/06. Most blogs would mean that as a bad thing, but not me. There’s a reason I liked it and I haven’t changed so much since then that I don’t appreciate a fun song when I hear it.

They’re finishing up their debut album now. Apparently they wanted to get this out before they spent this spring opening up for the Streets.

This is a fantastic song. You can see where the hype is around these guys with a song like this. Can’t wait for the album, Brother is one of my bands to really watch in 2011. Not sure if they will be quite as big as The Vaccines but maybe more like a nice little brother.
