I just found out yesterday that two of my favorite Lexingtonians formed a new band together. Ben Allen (vocals/guitar) and J Marinelli (drums) snagged Phil Farmer (bass) to round out their new group Arcane Rifles. Knowing what little bit I do know about Ben and Jay’s tastes, I’m not surprised the group came out sounding like they did.

Arcane Rifles’ two songs — especially “Wicked Girl” — sound like a great mix of 70s rock and 80s punk. It’s that spirit of being completely reckless, but still hitting the mark exactly. Nothing’s going to bring back the Wipers or the Stooges in their prime, but you might want to enjoy Arcane Rifles while they’re here…
