I didn’t make it to CMJ this year (hard to be at two festivals at once), but apparently Braids made a pretty big impression on a lot of people. And while I can’t speak to the quality of their live show, I can add my name to the increasingly long list of people who like this track.

This one starts out slow — like, super slow. But after adding a subtle build up and some Local Natives-esque drums into the mix, they’ve created a great launching pad for the song. I’m not so sold on the guitar part (it sounds like something you might make with a loop pedal as soon as you get it), but the singer’s voice draws me in to the point where I forget about it.
