Mavis Staples @ Lollapalooza 8.6.10
August 10th, 2010 by Matt

Any time I can catch a legendary R&B singer at a music festival, I’m always jazzed. This time at Lollapalooza it was Chicago native Mavis Staples. She took the stage with a lovely band and an even better voice. She opened with a few gospel songs and then talked for a minute about her upcoming record produced by Jeff Tweedy. Then, surprise surprise, she brought out Tweedy to play guitar on a few songs. They sounded fantastic and I’m sure it must’ve been a source of pride for Chicagoans to have two of their city’s most legendary musicians on stage at the same time.
