[SXSW] Man Man @ Mess With Texas 3.19.10

March 26th, 2010 by Matt

The saddest thing to happen to me at SXSW was that Mess With Texas’ delay pushed Man Man’s set time back into when I needed to leave in order to get to the Frenchkiss Records showcase on time. Ask Frank, I was an anxious mess thinking I wouldn’t get to see one of my favorite live bands. Luckily Man Man started up around 8:50, giving me ten minutes to enjoy and photograph them before running off across downtown Austin to be snuck in to see Local Natives.

The boys from Philly started off their set with a new one that I didn’t recognize before launching into a few comfortable favorites. And though I couldn’t stick around long, it was good to see that some great thing never change. Pow Pow still grins like a child who’s just discovered he’s the world’s most gifted drummer and Honus Honus still jabs his keyboard like he’s soundtracking a kitchen accident. So even those few minutes I got to see before running off to the next show were fantastic.

Luckily Man Man are playing Lexington in May.
