Thursday was White Denim: Take 2 for me. I caught them at the Mohawk the day before, but this show was just a little bit better. The guitar solos were tighter, the setlist flowed better and everything just generally seemed a little more on point. Still, I’d rather catch them in a dark club somewhere, but as far as outdoor shows go, this one was great.

The set list was pretty standard for White Denim, which I dug — but really I’ll take anything that includes the callbacks from “Shake Shake Shake,” the MC5-ness of “All You Really Have to Do” and the frantic nature of “I Start to Run.” They’ve written enough songs and played enough shows to know how to get in there and knock one out of the park even when given the short set of a SXSW show.
