[SXSW] Slow Club @ Eastbound & Found 3.18.10
March 23rd, 2010 by Matt

Poor Slow Club. Just about everything that could go wrong with their set did. They battled equipment and sound problems through the majority of their set, eventually just taking two acoustic guitars to the front of the stage and performing unplugged to the crowd. The heartwarming part, however, was that they had one of the most vocal, supportive crowds that I saw all weekend. One guy in the front row had been to every show they’d performed at SXSW and kept shouting out encouraging stuff. I guess when you’re a nice, talented band, your fans can be very forgiving of a show where everything goes wrong. My only complaint? No “Me and You.” Come on, guys! I like the new record as much as the next guy, but that song is great.

I was at this set too. I thought it was really great when they called everyone up close to do the acoustic song. I also caught them later at Red House Pizzeria (where, thankfully, the sound was much better) and met them afterward. Really, really nice folks.
