[SXSW] the Happy Hollows @ Jaime’s 3.17.10
March 22nd, 2010 by Matt

Going to Jaime’s for Mexican food: pretty good idea. Having a concert there: not the best idea. The Happy Hollows were great, but seeing a band in a Mexican restaurant pretty much sums up how jam-packed SXSW is. By 2014 I expect to walk down the streets of Austin and see bands playing official showcases in storefront windows, amid the mannequins.
But back to the Happy Hollows. It was my first time seeing the trio and, aside from the harsh lighting and the small room, it was a great one. All the songs from Spells sounded even better live. I only stuck around for about 20 or 30 minutes, but got to hear “Death To Vivek Kemp” during that time, so all was well. Can’t wait until I can catch them at a regular venue next time.
