My time at our Eastbound & Found party started with Freelance Whales, a group I’d only been able to familiarize myself with a little bit over the past few months. But even though I only knew two of the songs they played, I still really enjoyed their set. If I hadn’t been at least a little familiar with them, they would have been a contender for my “best discovery of SXSW,” but I’ll settle for calling them a “good band to see and or enjoy on record” — even if that is a little awkward to slap on a trophy.
