[SXSW] Besnard Lakes @ the Mohawk 3.17.10
March 21st, 2010 by Matt

It didn’t take long for me to return to the best bar in America this SXSW trip. After popping around a few venues on Wednesday, I grabbed a good spot at the Mohawk to enjoy the Austinist party. I was a bit later that I’d planned, but still got there in plenty of time to enjoy a full set from the Besnard Lakes.
Admittedly, I haven’t really spent that much time with the new Besnard Lakes album The Besnard Lakes Are the Roaring Night. But I’d heard enough to know that I should definitely catch them while we were both in Austin. Good thing, too, since they put on a hell of a show. They sounded like a post-rock band doing a Broken Social Scene tribute and it was awesome. I particularly fell for the new track “And This Is What We Call Progress” — that one’s got classic written all over it.
