[SXSW] Japandroids @ Emo’s 3.17.10
March 19th, 2010 by Matt

I had been really talking up Japandroids’ live show to my friend all day Wednesday. When I saw them at Pitchfork, they practically tore the stage down with their energy. But I gotta say, I was pretty let down with the 15 or so minutes of their Emo’s set. Their guitar tone sounded really muddled and really took the edge off their performance. Still, you can’t say they weren’t giving it their all. They were as bouncy and energetic as any band I’ve seen so far. But for all the fun I had watching them, they didn’t really sound that great. But hey, it’s SXSW, where soundchecks are often a luxury and bands have to make sacrifices. So I guess I’ll have to wait until the 3rd time I see Japandroids to be the tiebreaking vote.

Funny, they actually apologized for this set at their show at Emo’s today. Not an on night, I suppose.
