My SXSW 2010 started off with a set by a band I'd never heard before landing in Austin,
YellowFever. Since this seems to be the year I spend my time checking out smaller bands rather than seeing old favorites for the 6th time, I guess that's an appropriate way to begin.
YellowFever are a two-piece from Austin that put on a pretty good show. I couldn't help but think that they probably sound a little better on record than they did yesterday at Emo's; their songs were enjoyable, but I felt like they would really have benefited more from a good headphone sit-down and a couple repeats through. Still, I was glad I got there early enough to catch them on a friend's recommendation. They were a great way to kick off the week. [SXSW] YellowFever @ Emo’s 3.17.10
