RIP Alex Chilton of Big Star
March 18th, 2010 by Matt

Yesterday at dinner a friend told me she didn’t care who she saw at SXSW as long as she was there for Big Star on Saturday. Five minutes later I checked my twitter feed and saw the jaw-dropping news that Alex Chilton had died of a heart attack. There’s no convenient time to lose a true songwriting master, but the timing on this one is particularly sad.
MP3: Of Montreal – September Gurls (Big Star)
MP3: Ted Leo/Rx – Ballad of El Goodo (Big Star)
MP3: The Decemberists – Ballad of El Goodo (Big Star)
