[MP3] new Light Footwork: “Rock Island Arsenal”
February 15th, 2010 by Matt

If you’ve been reading YANP for a long time, you might remember that I spent much of 2005 obsessed with The Light Footwork. Their debut album One State, Two State kicked my Beulah-loving butt up and down the coast and now they’re looking to repeat the feat with a new album out this year. National Historic Landmarks is their self-released sophomore record — and this is your first listen.
MP3: The Light Footwork – Rock Island Arsenal
I said that their first record would probably appeal to fans of the Unicorns and Beulah. Well, I’m only one listen in to this one, but I’ve got to say that this seems like more of a record that Fiery Furnaces fans would enjoy. There’s a lot of tempo and melody changes, as well as some twisty turning lyrics. Also their male/female vocal interplay reminds me a little bit of Matt and Eleanor.
National Historic Landmarks is out Feb 23 on their web site.
