[WIN] the Happy Hollows’ album Spells + help me out!
February 3rd, 2010 by Matt

Today I’m back in the hospital for another fun run through the American medical system. But because I’d hate to leave you guys without entertainment and me with nothing to do, I’ve decided to run this contest and kill two birds with one stone.
MP3: The Happy Hollows – Faces
I’m giving away 10 copies of the Happy Hollow’s fantastic new album Spells. To enter to win, leave a comment with a suggestion for a band I’ve yet to cover here on YANP. I’ll pick the 10 that interest me the most and the winners will get a copy of Spells
Don’t forget to leave your email address in the comments. This contest is open to US residents only.

You’ve still never posted on Pomegranates. Their first album is being released on vinyl in about a month and a friend of mine just joined the band (he is formerly of Bowling Green, Ohio’s Traveling By Sea).
Additionally, Bears’ Craig Ramsey has a solo album.
Mostly, I think Sam Amidon has been criminally overlooked. “All Is Well” is a phenomenal album, and he’s got a new one coming in early March.
Keep up the good work.

Arpline – seriously overlooked band from Brooklyn.
Feel better!!
Drew Jennison // Feb 3, 2010 at 11:05 am
Golden Silvers and Best Coast are the two that come to mind.
Hope all goes well at the hospital!
Collin // Feb 3, 2010 at 11:06 am
Can I also say The Streets On Fire? If not, White Mystery! Both making waves in Chicago.
Sarah // Feb 3, 2010 at 11:32 am
I’d say Mystery Jets – I think Keith from We Are Scientists has mentioned them several times here, but as far as I know you’re not covered them yourself.
Hope all goes well in the American medial system!

I second the vote for Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk. Chomp Whomp has a lot of fun stuff lately…
In my hometown there’s a group called Nighty Night that is growing on me, they are probably my favorite new band. Good luck if you can find a way to describe this band’s sound… I settled for “Dust Bowl.”

A Faulty Chromosome. Randomly stumbled across them, they are great! Noticed they were mentioned in an article about Athens Popfest 08, but don’t know as if you’ve checked them out. Also keep up the great bloging/get feeling better.

i havent saw you post anything on The Sugarplastic, they’re underrated by the underrated. been around a while and are just fantastic! “bang the world is round” is all around a pretty perfect album.

Glad to see the second for Pom’s, but Nick’s presence brings a valid point that the new Decibully record is spectacular. I don’t see them anywhere on YANP.

I’m going to vote for either Shiny Pennies or Cloud Nothings. Both are producing some seriously underrated songs. You know, actual songs? That you could play on a gee-tar? Yeah, those kind…
Ben Alpers // Feb 3, 2010 at 9:52 pm
How about The Go Away Birds, a duo featuring God Help the Girl’s Catherine Ireton and Michael John McCarthy of Zoey van Goey? Their MySpace page is here. Their website is here. They’re currently in the midst of releasing what’s apparently a series of free EP. The third one is up on their site right now. Great stuff, IMHO!
