If you head over to DirtyProjectors.net, you can order a 7″ of the Dirty Projectors’ song “Ascending Melody” (b/w “Emblem of the World”). And as if dropping this little present on us wasn’t nice enough, you can also download both songs for free at the same site. Here’s the b-side, “Emblem of the World.”

[...] After a marvelous year of 2009, in which Dirty Projectors released one of the best records of the year once with the almost complete Bitte Orca, it seems Dave Longstreth and co. have started the new year on a jovial note, seeing how they’ve just recently offered the brand new “Ascending Melody” 7″ up for free download. Both songs are brand new, Ascending Melody and Emblem of the World (b/w), remnants from the Bitte Orca recording sessions, and can be downloaded for free on the band’s website. your picture reminded me. has there been any talk of musicnow festival in 2010? i havent heard anything and there isn’t a whole lot on their website. i pray it is dying out.

I’m pretty sure it’ll happen again this year. At least I feel like we would have heard if it had been shelved for the time being.
