You know the old argument that our rapid pace blog culture devours bands before they really get a chance to grow and develop the skills needed to stick around for the long haul? Here’s a decent test case. The person who emailed me about Kite Club said they’re “literally a week or two old,” but yet “Going Swimming” shows more promise than I’ve heard in a while. So if, in a year, Kite Club are happy and still generally good at writing/recording/playing music then the curse of blog culture devouring bands is a myth. But if Kite Club’s lead singer Nicholas Futcher is off hugging his pillow after a Wavves-esque meltdown later this year… Oops.

As I look out my window and see the snow accumulating to the point where I really, really don’t want to spend too much time outside, I realize that Nicholas and the other Aussies in Oz are laughing it up in the summertime down south.
