I’m in Chicago for the rest of the weekend, seeing the sights and freezing my Kentucky-loving buns off. I’ve hung out with some great friends, eaten at some great restaurants (Bongo Room & Cafe Iberico — mmm!) and, of course, heard some good music along the way. And while it stings that I won’t be able to make it to any of Jens Lekman’s three shows while I’m here, I did just discover that there’s an acoustic version of Portugal. The Man’s album The Satanic Satanist out there. Seriously, this is the band that keeps on giving.

And as if I haven’t raved about it enough, The Satanic Satanist is easily one of the best albums of the year. PTM have a new record (American Ghetto) due out this spring and — if twitter is to be believed — are working up some demos for the next record while on vacation back home in Alaska.
