I had heard Florence and the Machine’s name floating around for a while, but had never gotten around to listening to them until this week. I was on my way to get some blood drawn when this song came on WRFL. I sat in the hospital parking lot for two minutes waiting for the song to finish, then looked up the artist on WRFL.fm while waiting to be checked in.

My immediate reaction was that this must be some classic old song that I never knew existed. It’s got a dark mystery about it that just screams “lost gem.” As near as I could place it was that it sounded like Ivana XL writing a song for the Kill Bill soundtrack — unfortunately not the case. It’s songs like this that are why I wait until mid December to do my year end lists.
