I’ve been loving Local Natives for a while now, but this is arguably the best time to get excited. We’re finally starting to hear finished, studio versions of songs off their upcoming record Gorilla Manor (out in 2010). MOKB shared this new song by the LA group and it sounds great.
MP3: Local Natives – Wide Eyes
With “Wide Eyes,” Local Natives sound like they fit in nicely with the Cold War Kids and White Rabbits — two other percussion-smart groups. All three groups know that sometimes all you need is a good beat and bass line to hang a song on, but melody can’t hurt. And as if I needed another reason to point out Local Natives as being one of my favorite young bands, “Wide Eyes” comes together perfectly in one of the best songs I’ve heard this month. Can’t wait for that new record to hit shelves next year.
And while you’re at it, don’t forget to download that Aquarium Drunkard session that Local Natives did last month. It’s fantastic!
