Even though the day was as overcast as can be, I had a great time at Wussy’s CD Central instore. It was the only Boomslang event I caught that wasn’t at Busters, but it was one of the most familiar places in all of Lexington — the record store where I work.

Now, unfortunately I spent most of Wussy’s set outside grilling up hot dogs to give away to people who’d come out to the show. But I did get to pop in for a song or two to snap a few photos. It was my second time ever seeing Wussy and the first I’d ever caught them as just a duo. I don’t know if it was seeing them down a member or what, but I enjoyed them a lot more this time. They were super friendly on stage and off, and delighted in being as engaging as any band I’ve ever seen. Chuck (lead guitar/vocals) even told a crazy story about how his childhood barber kept an angry monkey that he’d put in kids laps while they were getting a haircut. Crazy.
