Faust @ Boomslang 10.9.09

It turns out that seeing Faust in theory was a lot better than seeing Faust in person. I was really excited for their show, but only because I knew this was an opportunity I’d never get again. But when they started playing, I realized that I just wasn’t that into it. It seemed like a show I’d seen a dozen times before — often more interestingly done.
And while I know some people would have killed to have seen that show, I left after 20 minutes or so. Everything was running late, so I was happy to get home before 2am. I’m glad Faust played Boomslang, but it just wasn’t for me.

By whom? I know no two shows are exactly the same – but I saw Faust in New York a couple of days before this gig and to be honest it was like nothing I had seen or heard in about 35 years of concert-going. So if this is all that common who should I be checking out?
