[MP3] Danger Mouse & Jemini: “Copy Cats”
October 9th, 2009 by Matt

A customer at CD Central asked me to identify a CD with a weird cover the other day. Turns out that it was Danger Mouse & Jemini’s album Ghetto Pop Life, which I’d always meant to hear but had never gotten around to it. Turns out that it’s just as great as I’d hoped. DM’s production is not quite as refined as it is on Dangerdoom’s The Mouse & The Mask, but it’s still miles beyond 75% of the hip hop I’ve heard this decade.
MP3: Danger Mouse & Jemini – Copy Cats
“Copy Cats” has one of those great samples that makes me wonder how I haven’t heard it a thousand times before — kind of like Dangerdoom’s “Old School Rules;” that song is great. Jemini does a nice job of keeping up with Danger’s production too. This is my first time hearing him and would love to check him out when not backed by DM’s production (which give an unfair lift to any vocalist).
