Bad Veins @ Monolith 9.13.09

Monolith was a big show for Bad Veins. They'd just been signed to Dangerbird and released a new record and had yet to really make a big national appearance. Now they're touring nationally and making appearances at big festivals. And for a lot of people, this is going to be their first glimpse at a band that Cincinnati and Kentucky music fans have been able to enjoy for a few years. And this won't shock any of those existing fans, but Bad Veins were fantastic at Monolith. In fact, the only problem to be found with their set is that it was a little bit short. I think they only played around 35 minutes -- but it was a great 35 minutes. For just two people and a tape machine, Bad Veins create a very dense sound live. It was one of the bestBad Veins shows I've seen, which is great for the band. Seems like they took the opportunity to play before a room full of people who had probably never seen them before and used it to win over a bunch of people. Well done, guys.
