I’d lost track of Langhorne Slim for an album or so — ever since his debut album, anyway — until my boss at the record store put on his new album Be Set Free the other day. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but he’s grown even far beyond that great first record. This new one is fantastic and full of songs that could be honest-to-God singles that people everywhere stand a good chance of loving.

I would be supremely surprised if this song doesn’t wind up in some shopping-oriented commercial. Langhorne urges us to “say yes!” so emphatically that after a while, I’m inclined to say yes to just about anything. Luckily for me he isn’t asking me to purchase footwear or home furnishings, but apparently suggesting that I say yes to life, love and having the time of your life. Now that I can get behind.
