Nesey Gallons @ Al’s Bar 9.19.09
September 20th, 2009 by Matt

It’s going to sound crazy to say, but in a bill loaded with the most important members of the Elephant 6 collective, the band that made me feel the most like I’d been transported to Athens in 1998 was Nesey Gallons.
Nesey has everything that first drew me to the E6 bands. His songs are different, but accessible; his lyrics are dense, but relateable; and – even solo – he’s got a quiet, yet commanding presence. Also he looks like a young Julian Koster, so that helped a bit.

Unfortunately I’m not familiar enough with Nesey’s songs to say anything much more in depth than “I really enjoyed his set.” He played one song he said was off his new album which was one of the best songs I heard all night — and when sandwiched between bands who have music I’ve been listening to and loving for almost as long as I’ve been into music, that’s really saying something.
