The Pains of Being Pure at Heart were my first convenience/scheduling casualty of Monolith. I arrived too late to photograph them — and by that I mean that I walked into the photo pit, took six pictures (including the two you see here) and was politely asked by a security guard if I would mind leaving because TPOBPAH were halfway into their set. Oops.
So, being that I wasn’t going to get any more photos and that the Answering Machine were about to start their set on the WOXY stage, I just decided to forgo trying to watch the band I’d seen twice this year and go catch the one I had never seen and was likely to not see again for a good long while. So I’ll just go with what I said about their Pitchfork set: gee, these guys sure are pretty good at performing live, given that they haven’t been doing it that long!
