I’d always heard that Thao Nguyen and the Get Down Stay Down were a really good live act (something you might not immediately know just from hearing their last record, though it was very good). Turns out that rumor is completely and absolutely true. Not only do live songs like “Bag of Hammers” sounds way more awesome live, but they even toss in unexpected treats like a fantastic and completely appropriate drum solo.

Also Thao treated us to a couple of her new songs which will be on her next album, due out later this year. I can’t remember too much about them to relate on to you, but I remember thinking it sounded as strong as anything else I’d heard from her. So keep your eyes peeled for her new record and tour dates
