[VIDEO] De La Soul do “Me Myself and I” on Arsenio in ’89
September 1st, 2009 by Matt
Yesterday I got to experience one of the slight perks to working at a record store — yes, there are some beyond an expanded appreciation of High Fidelity. Our boss bought a stack of records that were some of the best that we’d had in the store for a while. The first one that grabbed my attention was a great copy of De La Soul’s Three Feet High and Rising. I was so thrilled that I got to call “dibs” on it that I let my coworker grab the Smiths’ Strangeways Here We Come so he could complete his collection.
So in honor of my find, I did a little youtubing around and found this video of De La Soul playing on the Arsenio Hall show in 1989. It’s a lengthy album full of classic songs, but I think no matter who’s making the list, “Me, Myself and I” has to rank pretty highly. So go pull out your copy of Three Feet High and Rising (or go buy one if need be), snag some 80s walkmen-style headphones and jam along with me. It’s getting cold, so we’ll all need a little spring in our step.
And on the off chance this doesn’t appeal to you, I also came across this great video of Echo and the Bunnymen doing “Do It Clean” where they work in a handful of other songs.
