New Flaming Lips songs leak online, are awesome

Well, like I blogged just yesterday, the Flaming Lips have been playing some new material lately. And as if willed by the collective conscious of every attendee of their Pitchfork show, the studio versions of two songs they played at the fest there have leaked online.

“Silver Trembling Hands” sounds somewhat close to At War With the Mystics, but “Convinced of the Hex” is even more experimental. It flails and twitches along until you realize about halfway through that you’re listening to a song that’s way more genius than you first realized. Live the bass and vocals get played up a lot more, which helps, but this studio version gets to throw a lot more in the mix to a really wild effect.
