The Whigs @ Forecastle 7.11.09
July 15th, 2009 by Matt

There was a huge rain storm on the way to Louisville, so traffic slowed down to about 20 miles on the interstate until we eventually had to pull over and wait it out. Ordinarily I would have welcomed a break from the ordinary — after all, heavy storms where nobody gets hurt are awesome — but this time was different. This time it meant I wasn’t going to get there in time to see the Whigs.
We got there juuuust in time to see the last three songs by the Whigs. I managed to snake up to the front for a song or two, but it just wasn’t the same. I was too frazzled from the trip to adequately enjoy the band who was one of the best I saw in 2008. Still, they were fantastic. They played a song I didn’t recognize; I’m not sure if it was a new one off their upcoming record or one that I’d forgot off their debut. Either way, it was great to hear a fresh song in a set full of comfortable favorites.
