Now, don’t make too much of this, but Paul McCartney said in a recent interview that if MGMT were to call him up and ask to work with him… he’d be into it.
“”We need to talk about it,” he told ZoeGriffin.co.uk, “I can’t call [MGMT]. If they called me, I’d say, ‘How did you get my number?’. But I’d do it.”
Truthfully I’m scared of a Paul McCartney/MGMT collaboration — and McCartney is one of my favorite musicians! I think this is one that’s probably best left alone (though if MGMT have half a brain, they’ve already called him). However, I think that rumored Dylan duet could be interesting. Unfortunately he had some not-too-encouraging words to say on that matter.
“So much has been written about me doing a collaboration with Bob or me doing a collaboration with Ringo and Bob,” he said. “But that is not happening yet. We’re nowhere near.”
“I did say I wanted to work with Bob but that was ages ago and he hasn’t been in touch. I can’t contact him. That’s not cool.”
Poor Paul. Now I just imagine him sitting around waiting for his phone to ring. Life’s hard when you’re the most successful/best musician ever. Here’s one of his best to guide any of you going on road trips this summer…
