I’m no Green Day hater (I paid good money to see them in high school), but I was really surprised at how well their Colbert Report appearance went last night. There were a great number of laughs – especially about 10 seconds into the interview where Billie Joe awkwardly/accidentally explained why Colbert’s first joke was funny. But the biggest surprise is that, with Colbert’s prompting, they managed to work in some lyrics from Stephen’s amazingly pro-America song Stunned by the States into their song “Know Your Enemy.” Love it.
